Edwardminebitches’ follow forever

I have a tumblr for 9 months now, and all I had to say, I’m grateful to meet you all, even if we met outside of tumblr.

I love you all, from Jenna

// Apparently my last post enraged half of my followers and I didn’t only get replies on the post itself but I’ve especially got my inbox flooded with people raging against me and it was kinda annoying. Awkwardly enough I somehow reeived 50 new followers as well… somehow.
Anyway I will at least give a personal answer to anyone who actually put his or her face on the line…

Are you honestly suggesting that Rydia didn’t take Cuore in out of the kindness of her heart? She’s not that selfish.
No one asked her to take care of her, she did that herself.

First of all I shall remind you this is a generally cracky blog, she tends to be ooc sometimes, I am perfectly aware Rydia is a good person with a generous heart and I do roleplay her in more than three places… and in all of them I, somehow, ended with a child in her care. I know she’s not a selfish woman who does care only about herself.
And yet I’d add no one states she took Cuore because she wanted to. It’s what we all assume, me being part of you all, but we do not know how things actually went.
Crap, I didn’t see anyone complain about the time she suggested in blg Titan was a crossdresser even if it’s, like, totally not canon. And stupid. chill down, please.

CARSLIGHTMODE
I was going to say something about this too, she took Cuore in of her own will and I really don’t think Rydia would complain like this. Of course the people of Mist are going to try and rebuild, what did she expect? They probably were being respectful of her decision because surprise, even if they are like ultimania said, they still want her to be happy and decided to move on. Either way, she came back to help and never once showed she had any problems with it.
And of course her parents don’t want her in the Feymarch, she wouldn’t be alive for very long then.

I will just point at the previous answer and… duh, I know people love Rydia, especially the other villagers- but, seriously, I know, calm down.
Now, about her time in the Feymarch… time flows faster in there, it’s shown when Palom and Porom wait for her, she’s gone for a couple of seconds and she apologized for the wait. It’s not like her body grows faster, time itself flows faster. And she’d still have her happy life in the Feymarch, just between the people she loves the most.
Just oe more thing: Can I just mention how, at the end on FFIV, she choose the Feymarch over the human world? Probably that’s where she really’d like to stay.
DARKNESS-AND-STARLIGHT

I was trying to find a source for the claim that incest was common in Mist, because IV doesn’t technically have an Ultimania, but this was in the Settings Guide translation:

Currently, the Summoners, disdainful of worldly affairs, live in Mist, the place said to be the closest to the Illusionary World. Small groups of Summoners are scattered hither and yon throughout the world, but their bloodlines are weak and abilities limited. The Summoners of Mist have continually married within their own bloodlines, but the practice has certainly shortened their lifespans, and the long-term survival of these bloodlines looks doubtful. The future of the Summoners from any perspective does not seem bright.

"Within their own bloodlines" doesn’t strictly mean "incest"; if there are indeed other groups of summoners throughout the world, it could just mean that their community is closely knit. Which would still eventually result in shortened lifespans, of course.
But yeah, I find it hard to believe that Rydia, who always does things out of the goodness of her heart and ofher own volition, would complain about raising an orphaned child. If Leviathan and Asura meant so much to her as her adoptive parents, then one would think that she would follow in their example as an adult.

Okay, my bad, It’s not the’ ultimania’ but the complete guide with FFI-II-II-IV-V- and VI in it.  Now, talking about incest I wish I could use technical terms and stuff but with english not being my native language it’s somehow hard for me to explain myself.  Now, let’s talk about the ‘withing the bloodline’ thing.
We have Rydia and the two kids in the village as comparison in TAY: She”s pure, as far as we know, they’re born outide Mist in what could have been a mixed marriage.  We also know summoners can reach their best if they’re trained in their childhood and Rydia started her training when she was a kid herself…
In a moment of rage she was able to call for titan and destroy a whole area without training (she starts at lv.1) even if she had not enough power, technically, to summon him.
The kids, two of them, were able together to summon Mist over te Village. And Mist is already guarding the village itself because Rydia’s mother is somehow… doing something, we can see  it in Ceodore and Kain’s tale: they’re saved in the cave by the Mist, the creature is already in there.
So, yes, there is a big difference between the three. Plus to have genetic problems and short lifespans you have to keep mrrying between a very limited number of people. John Moore (in 2002 so not too long  ago) an anthropologist, studied how a colony of 150 people would make it possible to keep a functional colony without genetic issues for at least 2000 years…. so, yeah, we’re talking about a number largely inferior to 150 individuals.
Keep also in mind FFIV is a generlly medieval-world and many medieval important families actually disappeared because they kept maarrying between members of the same bloodline-family.
Plus read this for a moment:
Small groups of Summoners are scattered hither and yon throughout the world, but their bloodlines are weak and abilities limited. The Summoners of Mist have continually married within their own bloodlines, but the practice has certainly shortened their lifespans.
Bloodlines outside Mist are weak, Summoners of Mist have continually married within their own bloodlines. It should mean between cousins at least?  And I will metion how in Japan it’s not so incredible to meet people married between cousins- even if we’re talking about older generations. And I’m not trying to say ‘Rydia’s father is her own grandpa’, not that, I’m just saying that science is science.
Also, about Rydia being selfish…. read the first answer.

Okay so, agreeing with these last two comments, the game clearly showed that yes, Rydia did take Cuore in through the kindness of heart, not because she was forced to take care of a kid because everyone else told her too. Even though the ultimania talked about the current state of Mist and its summoners, the people were still respectful of Rydia’s decisions because they still wanted her happy. Plus it would have been disrespectful on their part in putting her in that kind of situation considering her mother was the village’s former guardian over the Mist Dragon. Also in the end, Rydia accepts the fact that she can’t go back to the Feymarch (because she wouldn’t live as long due to her bloodlines.) so she decides to focus on aiding her home village and restoring it which includes teaching Cuore about becoming a summoner. Again she wasn’t forced into staying home or taking care of Cuore, she decided this out of kindness and it was her decision alone because she has a selfless nature.

My apologies if I don’t offer a massive answer here but I think I’d just repeat myself. It’s a crack blog, when I RP Rydia she is a selfless woman
EXTRA ABOUT THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF EDGE ANONS
Edge. HOLY. BUCK. EDGE. Now, before I start let me just say I’m annoyed by the large amount of ‘But she and Edge and Cuore = family’ kind of anons I received. I love Edge. He’s my favorite male character in the game and in TAY he’s been my favorite baby and I just go asdfghjk- whenever I see him… but I do not ship him with Rydia.
And you can say whatever you want but it’s. Not. Canon. Even in TAY it still is a one sided love. Sorry, even in the guide there’s only a line from Edge TO Rydia in the relationships part… just, stop that. I love him, I love to draw him  and I think he’d make a great father to Cuore but I do not ship Rydia and Edge.

// Fun fact: reading FFIV’s ultimania you find out Mist was a very sick place. Incest was the norm and summoner’s bloodline was getting weaker and weaker because of this…
And, yes, I can see Rydia being quite frustrated in TAY
